How we work: To the Property Owners

1. Register and upload pictures of your property with Chicago Locations! It’s easy and free.
2. Once registered, Chicago Locations creates a custom “Digital Property Portfolio” of your property.
3. Your “Digital Property Portfolio” is added to our location database
4. When a producer is interested in your property, Chicago Locations will contact you and tell you the dates, the type and size of the project and the budgeted location rental fee to see if you are interested in this project.
5. If you are interested, Chicago Locations will schedule a Scouting to view your property.
6. Once your property is selected, the Producer signs a contract detailing the Location Rental Fees, project filming dates and times as well any other specific requests.
7. Prior to filming, Chicago Locations secures a “Certificate of Insurance” from the Producer than names the Property Owner as “Additional Insured” to protect the Property owner from any issues.
8. On the first day of filming, the entire Location Rental Fee is paid to the Property Owner.

Scouting

1. Scouting generally involves the Producers, Directors, Photographers or Clients coming to your Property to look and see if your property fits their projects’ location rental needs.
2. NO LOCATION RENTAL FEES are paid for viewing your property with the Producers.
3. A Scouting does not guarantee that your property will be selected. As every project is different, Producers often look at many different properties and perform several Scouts prior to making their final selections.
4. Also, even though you may be called regularly, do not expect that your property will be selected for every project. This is just part of the process.
5. After the Producer chooses your property for their project, the Producer will usually have one more Scout (called the “Technical Scout”) to further prepare for their projects’ shoot dates.

Print Shoot

1. Print Shoots are generally the smallest type of project.
2. Print Shoots involve the taking various still photos of your property with talent and props.
3. Print Shoots are typically 8-10 hours per day (although Chicago Locations negotiates a 10-12 hour rate)
4. Print Shoots usually take place over a single day.
5. Print Shoots Crew, Cast and Equipment is generally fairly minimal:
   • 6-15 Crew Members
   • 1-4 Talent
   • Equipment (cameras, lights, cases, wardrobe, hair/makeup and props)
   • Production Vehicles may involve a motor home
   • Crew / Talent may arrive in their personal cars
   • Catering / Craft Service

Commercials / Music Videos

1. Commercials / Music Videos are the most common type of projects.
2. Commercials / Music Videos are typically 12-16 hours per day.
3. Commercials / Music Videos usually take place over 1 – 2 days.
4. Commercials / Music Videos Crew, Cast and Equipment are generally more extensive:
   • 25 – 60 Crew Members
   • 2 – 10 Talent
   • Equipment (cameras, lights, cases, wardrobe, hair/makeup and props)
   • Production Vehicles may involve motor homes, box trucks, cargo vans, etc.
   • Crew / Talent parking is usually “off-site”

For a larger Commercial or Music Video shoot, if there is not an assigned “Location Manager”, you may request that Chicago Locations manage your property, keeping one person focused solely on the needs of the production as it relates to your property.

Movies / Television Shows

1. Movies / Television Shows are usually the largest and longest type of projects
2. Movies / Television Shows are typically 12-16 hours per day.
3. Movies / Television Shows usually take place over 2-4 days.
4. Movies / Television Shows Crew, Cast and Equipment are generally the most extensive:
   • 30 – 200 Crew Members
   • 2 – 15 Talent
   • Equipment (cameras, lights, cases, wardrobe, hair/makeup and props)
   • Production Vehicles may involve motor home, box trucks, cargo vans.
   • Crew / Talent parking is usually “off-site”


It is possible that the Movie / Television Show will need to use your location numerous times over a long period of time (particularly for a TV series)

For a larger Movie / Television Show shoot, if there is not an assigned “Location Manager”, you may request that Chicago Locations manage your property.
